We are searching for a resourceful Architect to manage project teams for one of our largest Retail national clients. This Full-time position is available in Los Angeles, California.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Architecture or Interior Design
- One (1) year of experience in the job offered or a related occupation in the architecture field
- One (1) year of experience managing complex architectural projects.
- Producing technical drawings using REVIT, Bluebeam, and AutoCad.
- Performing feasibility studies involving analysis of existing conditions, structural constraints, landlord requirements, and jurisdictional requirements.
- Documenting and implementing change requests.
- Demonstrated ability to independently produce drawing sets in both DD and CD phase of an architectural project.
- Demonstrated knowledge of building and accessibility codes.
- Applying building system knowledge to design and detail of storefront systems.
Demonstrated knowledge or experience is equivalent to at least 6 months of work experience as it cannot be learned during a reasonable period of on-the-job training. Experience may run concurrently.
Hybrid position: At least three (3) days per week, employee must report to Bergmeyer Associates, Inc. office at 360 East 2nd Street, Ste. 300, Los Angeles, California 90012
Must possess valid architecture license issued by appropriate licensing authority of at least one state
Essential Responsibilities:
- Manage renovations and expansions to retail stores across multiple U.S. cities and states.
- Use Revit for the production, supervision and management of technical drawings for national retail rollout program.
- Participate in Design Development (DD) & Construction Documents (CDs) phases.
- Leverage Bluebeam, AutoCad, and Revit to evaluate existing conditions using base building drawings, site photos, and other landlord provided documentation, to ensure prototype design works within tenant fit out space.
- Conduct code compliance checks on preliminary store layouts to confirm they meet egress requirements.
- Produce complete design development drawing sets for standard, select, and high-profile store prototypes.
- Refine project scope based on client and consultant feedback and propose opportunities for value engineering to meet client’s budget.
- Direct store design refinement, exterior and interior construction detailing. Compile and submit completed drawing set for approval to the relevant Building Department(s).
- Consult with Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Structural Engineers to produce a complete set of drawings needed to construct the project in conformance with design intent.
- Facilitate design solutions to conflicts that may come up during construction.
- Review design drawings for custom store elements (millwork, specialty built in fixtures, equipment) and to ensure alignment with client’s design intent and brand standards.
- Provide redlines (“corrections”) for staff to ensure compliance with Building Code requirements and regulations.
- Perform site surveys involving visual examination of an existing retail store’s condition including, but not limited to, taking photos; recording dimensions; visual inspection of mechanical and electrical equipment in the existing tenant space; and documentation of survey findings on an architectural drawing set (plan, reflected ceiling plan, elevations).
- Verify field conditions and approve contractor’s proposal for materials, products, and equipment planned for construction.
Base salary: $88,712 to $110,000 per year contingent on relevant experience plus profit sharing and benefits.
